The Regional Assembly influences EU, National and Regional Policy by identifying and highlighting specific needs of the Region and by developing and communicating these policy solutions through a number of mediums, these include:

Interaction with National Government

Since the inception of the BMW Regional Assembly there has been ongoing interaction and liaisons with both the Taoiseach and Government Ministers in relation to key issues facing the Region. These meetings have focused on achieving balanced regional development in Ireland and the allocation of Government investment in the BMW Region. Over the past decade the Assembly has highlighted in particular, the importance of investment in infrastructure and the development of high-valued added industries in order for the Region to access domestic and foreign markets and also attract inward investment. 

In addition, over the past ten years the Assembly has been represented at Joint Oireachtas Committee meetings of both the European Affairs and the Enterprise and Small Business Joint Committees.

Joint meetings of the BMW Regional Assembly and the S&E Regional Assembly take place annually and are addressed by Government Ministers on key areas of concern to the regions and the Assemblies.

Meetings of the Regional Assembly have been addressed by Government Ministers and by the heads of national agencies.
