EU Structural Funds Support for the Operational Programme

3.2 The EU Structural Funds

EU Structural Funds’ support for the Operational Programme for the BMW Region is provided through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (Guidance) (EAGGF), the European Social Fund (ESF), and the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG). These funds are specifically designed to aid those Regions which are lagging behind, to promote economic and social progress in areas facing structural difficulties and to facilitate increased employment through training and human resource development. As such, the Structural Funds’ contribution to this Operational Programme will further the aims of the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, in particular its commitment to the advancement of balanced regional development and the promotion of social inclusion.
