Chapter 7: Cross-cutting themes: Equality and Sustainable Development

7.1 Introduction

In accordance with Article 16 of Council Regulation (EC) 1083/2006 laying down the general provisions on the ERDF, the Operational Programme sets out information on the steps taken to ensure equality between men and women, the integration of a gender perspective and the prevention of discrimination on the basis of gender, race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation during the various stages of implementing the Funds and, in particular, in the access to them. The objectives of the Operational Programme will also be pursued within the framework of sustainable development and the promotion of the goal of protecting and improving the environment in accordance with Article 17 of the above regulation. In addition, the OP will, as appropriate, incorporate mechanisms to promote social inclusion during implementation.
