1.3 Definition of the BMW NUTS II Region

The eligible region as covered by this Operational Programme is called the Border Midland and Western (BMW) Region which is a NUTS II Region. It covers a total of thirteen counties and encompasses the Border, Midlands and West Regional Authority areas. These are classified as NUTS III regions and their component counties are set out in the table below. The BMW Region accounts for 47% of the land area of Ireland, 26.5% of the population and 19% of GDP. The territory is presented in the map.
